Величественный и сложный северный цирк вершины Бек-де-Росс (Bec des Rosses) заставит участников финального этапа не просто выложиться на полную, но и превзойти самих себя: только лучшие из лучших станут чемпионами и чемпионками мира по фрирайду на сноуборде и горных лыжах. Мы подошли к окончанию очень непростого с точки зрения катальных условий сезона. Надо отметить, что некоторые «звезды» соревнований не прошли отбор на участие в финале Тура; зато несколько райдеров, которые впервые в этом году принимали участие в Туре, успешно завершив отборочный сезон FWQ 2013, будут бороться за звания чемпиона и чемпионки. Мы с нетерпением ждем возвращения в Швейцарию: ведь это не только финал FWT, но и 19-е соревнования Xtreme Verbier в истории мирового фрирайда! – отмечает Николас Хэйл-Вудс (Nicolas Hale-Woods), генеральный менеджер FWT по Европе.

12 финалистов в мужском горнолыжном зачете, 5 финалисток в женском горнолыжном зачете, 5 сноубордистов и 4 сноубордистки: так выглядит состав участников финала FWT 2014. В общей сложности 26 человек бросят вызов самим себе, своим соперникам и, конечно же, 500-метровому склону Бек-де-Росс, чтобы определить лучших из лучших. Напряжение растет, и всем не терпится узнать, кому же достанутся четыре престижных титула чемпионов мира по фрирайду. При определении победителей Тура в мужском зачете будут учитываться четыре лучших результата каждого из участников за весь сезон FWT, включая оценку, полученную по итогам финала в Вербье; в женском зачете будут учтены три лучших результата каждой участницы, также включая оценку, полученную в финале, соответственно.
В каждой из четырех категорий в данный момент есть несколько фаворитов, которые претендуют на звание чемпиона или чемпионки мира по горнолыжному или сноубордическому фрирайду. Так, среди горнолыжников наиболее основательные шансы на победу – у текущего лидера Тура Лоика Коллом-Паттона (Loïc Collomb-Patton) из Франции; новозеландца Сэма Смузи (Sam Smoothy), который сейчас занимает вторую строку общего рейтинга спортсменов; швейцарца Жереми Хайца (Jérémie Heitz) и американца Ларса Чикеринг-Эйрса (Lars Chickering-Ayers) – они занимают сейчас третье и четверное места соответственно. Среди сноубордистов счет, возможно, пойдет на десятые балла между швейцарцем Эмильеном Баду (Emilien Badoux), американцем Сэмми Любке (Sammy Luebke) и канадцем Джейми Риццуто (Jamie Rizzuto), занимающими три верхних строки текущего рейтинга.
Чемпионка мира по итогам прошлого года Надин Уоллнер (Nadine Wallner) из Австрии ведет с минимальным отрывом от других претендентоr среди горнолыжниц Тура: ее соотечественница Лоррейн Убер (Lorraine Huber) из Австрии и шведка Матильда Рапапорт (Matilda Rapaport) – две других наиболее вероятных претендентки на чемпионский титул в женском горнолыжном зачете. Вооружившись уже двумя победами в этом сезоне, американка Шэннан Йейтс (Shannan Yates) станет победительницей Тура, если попадет в топ-тройку сноубордисток в финале – в то время как жительница Вербье швейцарка Эстель Байе (Estelle Balet) сможет одержать победу, только если Йейтс не окажется в топ-тройке по итогам финала.
Остроты борьбе за звания чемпионов и чемпионок мира по фрирайду добавят несколько участников, приглашенных на основании wild card. Среди горнолыжников это – победитель Xtreme Verbier 2013 Кевин Гури (Kevin Guri) из Франции, двукратный чемпион FWT и трехкратный победитель Xtreme Verbier француз Орельен Дюкроз (Aurélien Ducroz) и швейцарец Сэмюел Антаматтен (Samuel Anthamatten). Мужской сноубордический зачет пополнится чемпионом мира 2013 и победителем Xtreme Verbier Ральфом Бэкстромом (Ralph Backstrom) из США, трехкратным чемпионом FWT и четырехкратным победителем Xtreme Verbier Ксавье де ле Рю (Xavier de le Rue) из Франции, чемпионом FWT 2012 и победителем Xtreme Verbier французом Джонатаном Шарле (Jonathan Charlet) и пятикратным победителем Xtreme Verbier Стивом Классеном (Steve Klassen) из США. Чемпионка мира 2012 по горнолыжному фрирайду и победительница Xtreme Verbier норвежка Кристин Харгин (Christine Hargin) и французская сноубордистка Анук Мутон (Anouck Mouthon) также примут участие в соревнованиях на Бек-де-Росс.
